M1 Closure

The Parish council have been advised by Milton Keynes Council that they will be installing two overhead gantry structures on the M1 later this month.

These structures will span both the northbound and southbound carriageways and will display electronic message signs.

The following closures will be in place while this work takes place:

  • M1 southbound, junction 15 (Northampton) to 14 (Milton Keynes) – overnight closure from 10pm on Saturday 11 December to 5am on Sunday 12 December

  • M1 northbound, junction 14 (Milton Keynes) to 15 (Northampton)– overnight closure from midnight to 6am on Sunday 12 December

Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys during these closures. Diversion routes will be clearly signed during these closure, however alternative routes can be planned using the M40, A1 or M11 with A14. We also ask motorists to avoid this section of the M1 and surrounding roads where possible.

We advise drivers to follow the signed diversion routes and not their own satnavs. Please be considerate of residents living along the diversion routes by obeying the speed limits on these roads while the M1 is closed.

Please note that these are provisional dates and are subject to change, as there may be conditions outside of our control, such as adverse weather, and road incidents. You can find out more about the project, see the latest closure information and view the official diversion routes at: www.nationalhighways.co.uk/M1junction13-16. You can also register for email updates to stay informed as the project progresses.

We will do our best to complete the work as quickly as possible and keep noise and disruption to a minimum. However, some operations may be noisy, for example, reversing bleepers must be operational on our vehicles for health and safety reasons.
